Communities in Bloom

UPDATE

We are thrilled to announce that Communities in Bloom has awarded the City of Greater Sudbury a rating of 3 out of 5 blooms and a special award for Environmental Action!

We would like to thank the judges for their evaluation and for touring our wonderful city in August 2024, all the community partners who helped showcase Greater Sudbury on the tour, residents who took part in One-Time Clean-Up Events and those who submitted photos that were used in the Community Profile Book. To view the Profile Books, please see the documents on the right-hand side of the page.

The CiB judges were impressed with the understated beauty of Greater Sudbury and the transformation of what was once a barren remote destination into a flourishing community.

The City of Greater Sudbury looks forward to continuing to improve our community and taking part in a future CiB contest.

ORIGNIAL

We are excited to participate in Communities in Bloom Ontario 2024 (CiB).

Communities in Bloom is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the aesthetic appeal of communities and fostering friendly competition among Canadian towns and cities to beautify their civic spaces. This is a national organization that every year hosts provincial competitions that evaluates cities based on the accomplishments of the entire community on six key criteria:

  • Community Appearance
  • Environmental Action
  • Heritage Conservation
  • Tree Management
  • Landscape
  • Plant and Floral Displays

The competition includes an in-person visit from the Communities in Bloom volunteer jury of trained professionals on August 13 and 14, 2024. They will be taken on a tour of Greater Sudbury by City staff and will visit some of the incredible sites throughout the city that showcase our excellence in the judging categories. The final portion of the competition is a Community Profile book that will highlight Greater Sudbury’s achievements and community pride in each category.

We invite residents to take part in the competition through a photo contest and community clean-ups.

Photo Contest - CLOSED
