Municipalities in Ontario are required to have a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, as mandated by O.Reg. 414/23 under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
These plans must be updated every four years, and Greater Sudbury’s update was due to the Province of Ontario in July 2025. The Community Safety and Well-Being Advisory Panel created a Plan to ensure the priorities and processes effectively address the complex social and population health issues of our community. Plan development and implementation was a collaborative effort, with active partnership between the City and many key agencies, including Greater Sudbury Police Services, Health Sciences North, Public Health Sudbury & Districts, Ontario Health, education, child and youth services, and other community and social service providers.
Greater Sudbury’s first Plan was adopted in June 2021 and is titled, “Population Health, Community Safety & Well-Being: A Made in Greater Sudbury Solution”.
