Garson Water Servicing Strategy

The City of Greater Sudbury is undertaking a Water Servicing Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for Garson. The purpose of this study is to identify opportunities for system improvements, operational efficiencies and greater water security in this community.

The Garson water system is facing challenges ranging from aging infrastructure to possible future water quality concerns. This study is following a three-phased evaluation process to determine a preferred solution to the problem. To date, the project team has completed the first two phases of the process.

Phase 1 - Evaluation of four high-level strategies to address the problem

Phase 2 - Evaluation of different approaches to implement the preferred strategy

Phase 3 - Development and evaluation of various alternatives (technical studies)

This is the second of two online public consultation periods being held for this project. The first consultation, held in summer 2021, provided an opportunity to review and comment on the existing conditions, proposed alternatives and evaluation approach. The presentation materials from that consultation can be found on the right side of this page, under 'Public Consultation #1 - Summer 2021'.

This second consultation provides an opportunity to review and comment on the preferred alternative, a summary of existing environmental conditions and next steps in the study process. This consultation will be open until Friday, January 28, 2022.
