Kalmo Beach is located on Whitson Lake at 2630 Sandy Beach Rd. in Val Caron.
Lifeguards are on duty to supervise the sandy beach seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., during the height of the summer. The beach is a great location to go for a swim, play in the sand or enjoy a picnic. For those who wish to take their boat out on Whitson Lake, there is a boat ramp conveniently located down the road.
In 2023, the City completed a 10-year plan for Kalmo Beach which identified improvements to the beach area and ensured facilities and access routes meet accessibility requirements.
Update - December 2025
As part of the 2026 budget process, City Council approved funding in the amount of $463,000 to support enhancements at Kalmo Beach with a focus on improving accessibility, circulation and lighting. These improvements were identified in the Kalmo Beach 10-Year Plan and supported by the City's Parks, Open Space and Leisure Master Plan and Aquatic Service and Facility Review, which prioritize accessibility improvements at supervised waterfront areas.
