The City of Greater Sudbury has been approached by local volunteers interested in developing this parkland to create defined outdoor recreational opportunities.

Southgate Park is not part of the City’s playground revitalization project which is focused on existing municipal playgrounds that are rated in poor condition. Municipal funding is not allocated to this project.

Volunteers have indicated they are willing to fundraise to achieve their proposal. Community consultation is required prior to major development of municipal parks.

    The City of Greater Sudbury is consulting with residents regarding the potential development of Southgate Park, including options not limited to passive areas, natural playground areas and/or community gardens.
