The City of Greater Sudbury has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to determine the most suitable upgrades for the Southview Lift Station and address the following problem statement:
The Southview Sewage Lift Station has challenges related to aging infrastructure and limited capacity. Upgrades are necessary as part of our asset management strategy to reduce risks to the environment and properties by providing sufficient capacity, improve operational and energy efficiencies and allow for future development.
This project is proceeding in accordance with the requirements of the Class EA process to allow for a comprehensive evaluation of the environmental impacts and identification of appropriate mitigation measures, where required.
Online Public Consultation
Public consultation is a key component to this Study. A recorded presentation has been prepared to provide information about the project as well as proposed alternative solutions. The public consultation period for the Phase 1 portion of this study occurred from June 20 to July 11, 2023 and is now closed.
With closure of this period, a Phase 2 Report has been completed and is now publicly available on this website for a thirty (30) day review period in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class EA process. Interested persons may review with document and provide comments to the City. Subject to comments received as a result of this report, funding opportunities, and the receipt of necessary approvals, the City may then proceed with the works.
Comments and information regarding this Municipal Class Environmental Assessment are being collected in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. With the exception of personal information, all comments received will become a part of the public record.
