Labour Force Survey Results - June 2026

As of June 2026, the labour force of Greater Sudbury (Census Metropolitan Area) is 106,000, an increase of 400 from May 2026. Labour Force refers to the total adult population available to the labour market at a specific time.
The unemployment rate for Greater Sudbury (Census Metropolitan Area) in June is 6.4%. The unemployment rate in Ontario is 7.2% and Canada is 6.7%.
The number of people employed in the city is 99,200, up from 98,700 in May 2026.
The participation rate is 64.4%, a slight increase from May 2026. The participation rate remains below the pre-COVID peak of 65.1% in May 2019. This is the share of the working-age population that is working or looking for work.
