What is PRONTO and how do I use it?
Applying for building permits is getting easier with the launch of Pronto.
Residents and businesses can fill out their building permit application online, and digitally attach and submit plans and drawings, eliminating the requirement for multiple in-person visits and allowing for a faster and more convenient service.
Pronto also allows applicants to track their permit application from beginning to end. If more information is required, the applicant will receive an email or follow-up phone call to ensure an efficient and timely application process.

What does CGS mean?
You may see the acronym CGS in various documents and reports. CGS stands for City of Greater Sudbury.
What are Development Charges (DCs)
Municipalities in Ontario use Development Charges (DCs) to recover growth related capital costs associated with residential and non-residential growth. In accordance with the Development Charges Act, DCs are collected at the building permit stage to help the City pay for municipal services needed to support the new development. These services include, water, wastewater, emergency services, roads and more.
