As directed by Council in April 2022, the City of Greater Sudbury is reviewing its French Language Services Policy, as the current, active policy, dates back to 2001.
Following an initial round of community engagement, a draft French Language Services Policy and engagement report were presented to Council on January 16, 2024.
The revised draft, aims to modernize and enhance French-language services by taking a customer-focused approach and considering current community needs, demographics, and technological advancements. It was developed through a review of comparable policies, customer service data, and extensive consultation with staff, partners, stakeholders, and residents.
We are now launching a second phase of engagement to collect feedback from community partners and the public on the key principles of the policy which can be accessed in the "Documents" section of this page,
Residents are invited to complete the survey between November 24 and December 12. Those needing assistance may call 311.
A final policy and action plan will be presented to Council for approval in March 2026.
