Human Capital Management Plan

As an employer, the City of Greater Sudbury has identified an opportunity for growth when it comes to providing a meaningful employee experience. We want to ensure our employees are given the tools, support and opportunity to grow professionally while delivering exceptional service to our community.

That's where the Human Capital Management Plan -- or HCMP -- comes in.

  • I know they are talking about compressed hours for Engineering. Any ideal if this will happen and when will this be made available?

Gilles Villeneuve asked almost 2 years ago

    Thanks for your question, Gilles.

Because this project has a design approach of one that is by employees, for employees, our goal is to respond to the feedback provided by employees with respect to this subject, as well as many more.

If it is found through our survey, for example, that employees would value a policy that allows for an alternate work week schedule, then the pillar teams will respond with a proposed policy.

The policy would then undergo the usual rigor to ensure that it aligns with organizational needs and values. You may have heard our CAO, Ed Archer, comment on the possibility of an alternate work week schedule during a town hall, so I would not be surprised if a policy of that nature is presented to the pillar team for consideration.

As you can imagine, there could be some significant operational implications with a policy of this nature, so I would expect that if we did present a policy like this for approval, it would be after much stakeholder engagement with operations.
