Since December 2020, City Council has been obtaining feedback from all residents about homelessness, gaps in services, safety concerns, and local needs. This includes hearing from residents at large, local businesses, grassroots agencies/individuals, service providers and those with lived experience of homelessness. The goal is to listen to the community's stories and ideas, and use what we learn to address homelessness issues in the city.

Residents were given an opportunity to share information through a survey, available online and in paper format at local shelters and warming stations over the span of a month. Over 450 responses were received. Residents were also invited to share their thoughts at public input sessions.

Staff have reviewed the feedback received to date and summarized that information. Please review the content in the Homelessness Consultation Feedback document on this page to ensure we have captured your comments and suggested solutions appropriately.

Should you feel that ideas were missed, you can contact homelessness@greatersudbury.ca. The deadline for responses is Monday, March 29, 2021 at noon.

Staff will assess the issues raised, and then prepare a report that analyzes options to address the issues and, if appropriate, recommend direction(s).

We would like to thank everyone who provided stories and feedback related to homelessness in our community. Your voice is extremely important, and we value your time and assistance.
