Homelessness Consultation

City Council would like to obtain feedback from all residents about homelessness, gaps in services, safety concerns, and local needs. This includes hearing from residents at large, local businesses, grassroots agencies/individuals, service providers and those with lived experience of homelessness. The goal is to listen to the community's stories and ideas, and use what we learn to address homelessness issues in the city.

This is the first step in the homelessness consultation process. We are working through our community partners to gain real insight from people who have lived experience of homelessness. We are finalizing dates for a special Council meeting for people to share their ideas, in the new year.

UPDATE: A special virtual City Council meeting took place January 27 for community members, businesses, agencies and grassroots organizations. A second special virtual City Council meeting was held January 28 for those with lived experience of homelessness.

Over the coming weeks, staff will review the input received to date through the public input sessions and survey, and assess the issues raised. They will then prepare a report that analyzes options to address the issues and, if appropriate, recommend direction(s).
