Beginning in December 2020, City Council obtained feedback from all residents about homelessness, gaps in services, safety concerns, and local needs. This included hearing from residents at large, local businesses, grassroots agencies/individuals, service providers and those with lived experience of homelessness. The goal was to listen to the community's stories and ideas, and use what we learn to address homelessness issues in the city.

Residents were given an opportunity to share information through a survey, available online and in paper format at local shelters and warming stations over the span of a month. Over 450 responses were received. Residents were also invited to share their thoughts at public input sessions.

The information from the consultation was summarized in a Report to Council on May 25, 2021. Council will use this information to make decisions on priorities and resource allocation to address homelessness in the community.

We would like to thank everyone who provided stories and feedback related to homelessness in our community. Your voice is extremely important, and we value your time and assistance.
