Kingsway Entertainment District and Arena/Event Centre Festival Square
The Kingsway Entertainment District is a space for everyone to enjoy our great northern lifestyle; a place for our growing community to gather and celebrate. The Kingsway Entertainment District is a space for everyone to enjoy our great northern lifestyle; a place for our growing community to gather and celebrate. It is an innovative experience and a choice destination for northeastern Ontario that will proudly host visitors to the beautiful city we love and call home.
Thank you to more than 500 residents who attended information sessions last fall to tell us what you wanted in a site. Now we're looking to you for a few more ideas about the shared outdoor space, called Festival Square.
Festival Square is a public open space that will appeal to residents and tourists alike, and bring a vibrant energy to the area through the events and programming.
Tell us your ideas on what features, including programming, you envision for the space! Information gathered here, and in person at various planned information sessions, will help shape the design and functions as we move forward in the creation of your Festival Square.
Ideas will be accepted until July 11, 2018.

What is your VISION for the space?
over 2 years agoCLOSED: This brainstormer has concluded.Think about overall uses and the feel of the space such as seasonal uses, family friendly, playful design, etc.
Tamaraover 2 years agoWhy bother even asking our opinion? After the community consultation process for creating the downtown plan, it was tossed in the garbage.
Why bother?
25RNover 2 years agoCouple of cool things to have:
-food truck area -pedestrian friendly community -fountains with a seating area around it -entertaining street performances -drive in/outdoor movies projected sometimes -host antique car shows -love the ice skating in the winter and roller skating area in the summer idea -lots of outdoor restaurants and cafés
1AndreDumaisover 2 years agoWe already have this infrastructure in the city, Bell park, Memorial Park and so many festivals are running successfully across the city.
How about not building a white elephant on the Kingsway!

Walkable
0libby.udeschiniover 2 years agoShame on you, city council.
Why hire an auditor? Why ask for community feedback? Why even put up a pretense that you cared about what the citizens of Sudbury thought at all? I should have known right from the start that this city council would always follow their own pocketbooks over the best interests of the city. I hope Dario Zulich and his buddies provided for you well. If you are asking me what I think a Kingsway Entertainment District looks like, I have no answer for you, because it belonged downtown. Where it would be a boon to local business, not a detriment. Where it would be walkable. Where a company offered to build a parking tower nearby. Oh well. I guess we are in good company. Let's ask other cities how it went for them when they moved their arenas out of their downtowns. Oh, wait. We DID ask them. And it was shown universally to be a bad idea. Thank god for the young people in this city who actually give a damn about supporting local businesses. As for me, I will never set foot in that Kingsway arena.
