Penman Park, Penman Avenue, Garson

Before: An existing play structure, climbing pole and swing set were found to be in poor condition and in need of renewal in less than five years. These items have been removed. A rocking “ladybug”, an interactive wall, a teeter-totter and a sandbox digger are still in good condition and remain in the playground.

After: Residents told the City of Greater Sudbury they wanted a fitness focused playground design with structures that encourage climbing, swinging, jumping and spinning. Most requested park amenities were shaded rest areas, picnic areas and benches.

New playground structures feature two slides and an exciting variety of climbing and balancing apparatus with an accessible feature. A new swing set is suitable for both tots and older children.

An overview of the renewed Penman Park shows the approximate placement of new play equipment and shaded rest areas. It does not show existing structures that do not require renewal and will remain in the playground.

Installation of new play structures was completed in early December 2018. A new ground surface consisting of engineered wood fibre will be installed in the spring 2019.
