Operation Greater Playgrounds

Update - September 29, 2022: Playground Revitalization Project Sponsorship – Request for Expression of Interest

Fifteen playgrounds remain un-funded. City staff continue to explore grant and other funding opportunities to advance the project. The City is interested in developing community partnerships with organizations that enrich the lives of residents and has issued a request for Expression of Interest (EOI) to identify potential sponsors for the remaining 15 playgrounds: https://greatersudbury.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en/Tender/Detail/3d11697e-dbee-4543-ac44-1f08f7869e5c

Update - August 30, 2022

The City of Greater Sudbury is pleased to advise that the demolition and subsequent installation of new playground structures will begin this week at the eight Phase 3 playgrounds. Work at Moonlight Beach will begin in October. Photos will be shared here upon completion.

Residents were invited to share their thoughts about the renewal of these sites to ensure that playgrounds are designed to meet the needs of local neighbourhoods and communities. Through a survey and neighbourhood open houses at each of the eight playgrounds, residents provided input on the next phase of playground additions and improvements.

The results of public consultation determined these preferred designs for each of the Phase 3 locations:

Brighton Tot Lot, Brighton St., Garson

Gil Loop Tot Lot, Gill Ave., Onaping

Grandview Playground, Grandview Blvd., Sudbury

Lebel Playground, 1232 Carmelo Ave., Sudbury

Rosemarie Playground, 1297 Gary Ave., Sudbury

Shawn Tot Lot, Shawn St., Azilda

Simon Lake Park, Naughton

St. Charles Lake Tot Lot, Brenda Dr., Sudbury
