The City of Greater Sudbury is undertaking a comprehensive infrastructure improvement project on Second Avenue, between Bancroft Drive and Kenwood Street.
Planned upgrades include the full reconstruction of the roadway, with new asphalt and curbs, and the addition of a shared two-way centre left-turn lane to improve traffic flow. Existing sidewalks will be replaced, and a new sidewalk will be installed on the east side of the street to enhance pedestrian access. To further support active transportation, off-road paved bike lanes will be built on both sides of the road.
The project also includes the replacement of watermains, along with associated service connections and fire hydrants. Storm sewers will be renewed to improve drainage, and overhead utilities will be relocated and street lighting will be upgraded to enhance safety and visibility.
Residents are invited to attend a public consultation meeting any time between 5 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at the Morel Family Foundation Playground Field House at 270 Second Ave.
