Greater Sudbury Wastewater Treatment Plant Environmental Study Report Addendum

The City of Greater Sudbury previously completed an Environmental Study Report (ESR) which evaluated Wastewater Treatment Options for the City and Settlement of Garson. An Addendum was completed in 2009 and resulted in new alternatives for the Sudbury WWTP, including additional electrical upgrades and the installation of a new diesel standby power generator for emergency use.

Since the filing of the Class EA Addendum, the detailed design for the electrical upgrades and generator were completed and it was decided that a new 2.5 MW diesel generator be installed to provide standby power to the Sudbury WWTP but also be utilized for non-emergency situations such as peak shaving purposes to save on energy cost. The use of the generator for non-emergency situations was not adequately evaluated in the Class EA Addendum completed in 2009, as such an Addendum to the EA is being completed.

It seems the lift stations in Garson, and entire city have to have suction trucks regularly assist in that area. I’ve heard numerous have issues, hv had since large flood in 2014. What is the city doing PROACTIVELY to fix these ongoing issues?
