Paris-Notre Dame Bikeway Project

The City of Greater Sudbury is proposing active transportation infrastructure improvements on Paris Street and Notre Dame Avenue. This project will complete engineering design work needed to extend the existing separated cycling facilities on Paris Street (between York Street and Walford Road) to Regent Street in the south and to Turner Avenue in the north. The design of this project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase focusing on Walford Road to the Four Corners, and the second phase examining from York Street to Turner Ave.

The new bikeway will be guided by the following four design objectives to ensure a safe and comfortable ride for all users:

  1. Separated from vehicle traffic
  2. Continuous on both sides of the street
  3. Well designed at intersections
  4. Comfortable to use

Public Consultation Session #2:

A Public Consultation Session is being held on May 15, 2019 to continue work on the Paris – Notre Dame Bikeway project and to gather input on the proposed work. This public meeting will provide residents with the opportunity to discuss and share feedback on the proposed cycling facility design for the South Phase (Walford Rd to Regent St) and provide input for the design of the North Phase (York St to LaSalle Blvd).

The public meeting will be drop-in format and will display information on the study process, proposed design treatments, feedback heard to date and future steps. Project staff from the City and consultant will be available to answer questions and respond to any concerns.

When: May 15, 2019

5:00 – 7:00 pm

Where: St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church (Lower Hall), 40 Notre Dame Avenue

The design work for this project commenced in October 2018 and is expected to be completed by Fall 2019. Pending future Council approval, construction is anticipated to begin in 2020.
