Community Action Network Review

The City is undertaking a comprehensive review of the Community Action Network (CAN) Program. This review was called for by Council as part of the 2019-2027 Strategic Plan and includes an assessment of the program’s strengths, weaknesses, mandate and alignment with the City’s strategic priorities.

For over 15 years, CANs have brought people together to build healthy communities. These groups of resident volunteers are supported by the City through financial, staff and other in-kind resources. They take action to implement projects and initiatives that have a positive impact on the quality of life in Greater Sudbury. There are currently 20 CANs across the city.

For more information on the CAN Program, visit greatersudbury.ca/CANs

As part of this review, we will be hosting engagement sessions to better understand general awareness of the CAN Program, community experiences with the CANs and how community engagement can be improved moving forward.

This session is open to interested members of the public. Registration for this session is required, please use the provided link to register. The presentation will be recorded and circulated. The participant question & answer period following the presentation will not be recorded.

Two public sessions are being offered to accommodate people's schedules. The content in both sessions will be the same, please sign up for only one session.

A full engagement report and program recommendations will be presented to Council in the coming months.

  • No more funding of election events

by Janet Silver , about 2 months ago
Please don't allow what has continued to happen with Grandparent's Day in Ward 11 for four years - happen again. It's not about grandparents when it is an election year for 2 of them and the councillor is requesting the money himself to fund his campaign event with his election team organizers and jackets!!! CAN funds and HCI funds - all requested by him and for him.
